Listening Section (Identical)
Both Academic and General Training use the exact same Listening test. You will hear 4 recordings:

Can I Switch Between Academic and General Training?
Many candidates wonder if they can take one version and later switch to the other. Here is what you need to know:
Taking Both Versions
Yes, you can take both IELTS Academic and General Training. They are completely separate tests with separate scores. There is no restriction on taking both. However, remember that you cannot combine scores from Academic and General for any single application. NMC and GMC only accept IELTS Academic.
Switching After Taking One
If you took IELTS General Training but now realize you need Academic for NMC registration, you must take the full IELTS Academic test. Your General Training scores will not count toward your NMC application. Plan carefully to avoid unnecessary expense.
Academic is More Versatile
IELTS Academic is accepted for almost all purposes that General Training covers (with the exception of some migration programs that specifically require GT). If you are unsure of your future plans, taking Academic gives you more flexibility.
UKVI Versions Are Separate
IELTS for UKVI (Academic) and IELTS for UKVI (General Training) are separate tests. If you need a UK visa, ensure you book the UKVI version, as standard IELTS is not accepted for visa purposes.
