Create Your MyOET Account

Visit the official OET website and click "Register" or "Book a Test." You will need to provide:

  • Full name (exactly as it appears on your ID document)
  • Valid email address (all communications will go here)
  • Phone number with country code
  • Mailing address
  • A secure password
Important: The name on your OET account must exactly match the name on your ID document. Any discrepancy will prevent you from taking the test, and name changes after registration may incur a fee.

OET is available in two formats. Both are accepted by all regulatory bodies:

How to Choose the Right Venue

  • Proximity: Choose the closest venue to minimize travel stress on test day.
  • Availability: Popular venues fill up quickly, especially in major cities.
  • Format: Not all venues offer computer-based testing. Verify before booking.
  • Frequency: Some venues offer monthly tests; others may have fewer dates.

2025 Test Dates: OET is offered at least once per month at most venues. Check the OET test dates page for specific dates at your chosen venue.

Upload Your ID Document

OET requires a valid, government-issued photo ID. The document you upload must be the same one you bring on test day.

  • ✗ Driving licences are NOT accepted

Pay the OET Registration Fee

The OET exam fee is AUD 587 (approximately USD 380 or GBP 310, subject to exchange rates). Payment is made online during registration.

Confirm Your Booking

After payment, you will receive a confirmation email from OET within 24 hours. This email contains:

  • Your unique candidate number
  • Test date, time, and venue address
  • Instructions for test day
  • What to bring on test day
Save your confirmation email. You will need to show it (printed or on your phone) at the test venue along with your ID document.

What to Bring on OET Test Day

Arriving unprepared is one of the most common reasons candidates are denied entry. Use this checklist to ensure you have everything you need:

  • Valid ID document - The same document uploaded during registration. Passport is safest.
  • Booking confirmation - Printed or digital copy from MyOET account.
  • HB pencils - For paper-based tests. Bring at least 2-3 sharpened pencils.
  • Eraser - Clean eraser for paper-based tests.
  • Water bottle - Clear, label-free bottle only.

❌ Prohibited Items

  • Mobile phones - Must be switched off and stored in designated areas.
  • Smart watches - All watches are prohibited, including analog.
  • Bags and purses - Leave at home or store as instructed.
  • Food and drink - Except the allowed clear water bottle.
  • Pens - Only HB pencils allowed for paper-based tests.

12+ Weeks Before Test

8 Weeks Before Test

Begin intensive skill practice. For Writing, practice referral letters and discharge letters specific to your profession. For Speaking, role-play patient consultations daily. Complete at least one full practice test per week.

4 Weeks Before Test

Switch to timed practice. Complete full mock tests under exam conditions. Review all mistakes meticulously. Focus on time management for Reading and Listening. Get feedback on your Writing samples.

1 Week Before Test
